MEDICAL ASSISTANT PROGRAM (M-720)
The Medical Assistant Program prepares students for entry-level positions in healthcare industry as a front or back office assistant. Students will learn emergency and other medical back office skills, and medical front office and insurance billing techniques. Students will develop administrative skills such as patient scheduling, obtaining and maintaining patient data, office bookkeeping, insurance billing, and automated office information management, including computerized patient billing. Students will also learn essential patient care responsibilities such as vital signs and triage. Students will participate in a 170-hour externship to gain workplace experience and networking opportunities with an employer in their labor market and area of study. This externship experience will be an integral part of the program and is required for graduation.

The Medical Office Administration Program prepares students for entry-level positions in the healthcare industry as a front office assistant. Students will learn a wide variety of computer applications, medical front office procedures and insurance billing and coding techniques. Students will develop administrative skills such as patient scheduling, obtaining and maintaining patient data, office bookkeeping, insurance billing, and automated office information management, including electronic health record management. Students will also learn essential systems commonly used by doctor and clinic offices such as MediSoft© and Practice Partner©. Students will participate in a 170-hour externship to gain workplace experience and networking opportunities with an employer in their labor market and area of study. This externship experience will be an integral part of the program and is required for graduation.

The Medical Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares students for entry-level positions in the healthcare industry as a phlebotomist or back office assistant. Students will learn emergency and other medical back office skills, and medical front office and phlebotomy procedures. Students will develop skills in the phlebotomy practice such as safety procedures, specimen handling, blood collection and laboratory procedures. Students will also learn essential patient care responsibilities such as vital signs and triage. Students will participate in a 170-hour externship to gain workplace experience and networking opportunities with an employer in their labor market and area of study. This externship experience will be an integral part of the program and is required for graduation.

The Electronic Health Records (EHR) Specialist Program prepares students for entry-level positions in the healthcare industry. Students will learn a wide variety of computer applications and medical front office skills. Students will develop administrative skills such as patient scheduling, obtaining and maintaining patient data, and automated office information management, including computerized patient billing with use of electronic health records.

This program is designed to teach students the necessary skills in mastering Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Business specialty skills such as typing, business communications, general office, customer service, accounting, QuickBooks, marketing, and human resources are of primary focus.
Upon successful completion of each program, students will receive a Diploma. This program equips students with the skills needed to pursue occupations in data entry personnel, office assistants, receptionists, secretaries, general office workers, administrative or executive assistants, customer service representatives, help-desk support, marketing representatives, Internet researchers, payroll processors and accounting assistants. Graduates will be qualified for entry level positions in a wide variety of business, technical, industrial, professional, and government positions that require these computer skills. Graduates will be qualified to seek employment in occupational titles or job descriptions that include; Administrative Assistant, Office Manager, Administrative Manager, Administrative Specialist, Administrator, Director of Operations, Administrative Coordinator, Administrative Director, Administrative Officer.

The PC Specialist Level I program is intended for people who want to gain an overall understanding and working knowledge of basic computer applications essential to all occupations. Keyboarding, Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel are used to provide the student with an understanding basic computer use along with word processing applications and the basics of spreadsheet applications. The provided off-the-shelf textbooks include easy-to-follow instructions and practical problems for increased learning. The program also introduces general problem-solving techniques useful for learning new programs.
